An existing house was purchased and altered to create a holiday home intended to generate rental income. The site is located close to the beach and offers good upper-level sea views. Its subtropical setting and lush vegetation contribute to a relaxed coastal atmosphere.

The poor construction quality of the original single-storey structure required structural interventions to accommodate an additional floor level. The accommodation is distributed over two levels to optimise views and outdoor living opportunities.

The entrance level includes a living room, terrace, swimming pool, and three bedrooms. The upper level accommodates an open-plan kitchen and dining area, a verandah deck for entertaining, as well as the main bedroom and a guest suite.

The design supports a relaxed coastal lifestyle, with integrated swimming pool and entertainment decks extending living spaces outward. The architectural response provides simple, functional accommodation suited to seaside holiday use, while strengthening the relationship between interior spaces, sea views, and the surrounding subtropical landscape.
